Portrait Aluminum Dolls with Faith Ringgold

At the AENJ convention I took a workshop with Faith Ringgold.  She even signed two books for me! We learned how to make these adorable dolls out of aluminum foil and cloth. The pictures I have here are examples of dolls that were made at the convention.  I did this project before with Gifted and Talented students but the class only had about 10 students. They were in grades 2- 5.   They did a great job too but I never tackled this one with a whole class.  There are a lot of parts and pieces and takes a great deal of patience.

Me and Faith!

Above, is my favorite one!  The person who made it said that they are going to give it to their grandmother.  I believe she was celebrating her 90th bday.
